What do we think we are doing?
We are the Cardboard Emperors. We love. one thing: war games. Well technically its war and strategy board games. We love two things – war and strategy board games. And playing them with like minded people. Our three….
You see where we are going with this.
We are a group of like minded gamers who want to play war and strategy board games. We like to talk about them and the people who make them and the people who play them. To this end we have launched this site to support the continuance of such nefarious activities, and to share our love of the hobby with you – in person, online, and in words (and do we have words).

In person
Pre- and post-plague we organise conventions and meet-ups for war and strategy board game hobbyists.
For the moment these are London, UK-based, reflecting our origins, but as the group continues to grow, in numbers and geographically, we can start looking at events further afield.
Online
In between in person events we do a lot of online stuff including weekly games nights – Wargame Wednesdays – virtual conventions and tournaments.
On our Discord server we have games chat, a marketplace, channels for designers and game-testing, and much more.
Contact us if you want to learn more.
In words
Punched is our free, occasional magazine. It’s web-based and accessible through this website.
Written by members of the Cardboard Emperors group – amateurs one and all – it has features, interviews, guides, reviews, and, if you are lucky, a free game for your hobby enjoyment.
